Were the Writers of the New Testament Preterists?
Apostle Paul:
- There is about to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked. (Acts 24:15, YLT, LSV)
- The time has been shortened. The form of this world is passing away. (1 Corinthians 7:29, 31)
- Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. (1 Corinthians 10:11)
Writer of Hebrews:
- Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken to us by his Son. (Hebrews 1:1-2)
- When He said, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear. (Hebrews 8:13)
- Now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin. (Hebrews 9:26)
- as you see the Day drawing near (Hebrews 10:25)
- For yet in a very, very little while, He who is coming will come, and will not delay. (Hebrews 10:37)
Apostle Peter:
-
- This is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: “And it shall be in the last days. . .” (Acts 2:16-17)
- And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, also proclaimed these days.
- He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in these last times for your sake. (1 Peter 1:20)
- The end of all things is at hand. (1 Peter 4:7)
Apostle John:
- The world is passing away, and the true light is already shining. (1 John 2:8)
- Children, it is the last hour.” (1 John 2:18)
James:
- You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. (James 5:8)
WHERE DID THESE MEN GET THESE PRETERIST IDEAS? FROM OUR LORD JESUS, OF COURSE:
- You will not have finished going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. (Matthew 10:23)
- There are some of those standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom. (Matthew 16:28; Mark 9:1; Luke 9:27)
- So that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth. . . . Truly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. (Matthew 23:35, 36)
- This generation will not pass away until all these things take place. (Matthew 24:34)
- These are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. (Luke 21:22)
- Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to your?”
- The revelation of Jesus Christ, which gave him to show his servants the things that must shortly take place. (Revelation 1:1; 22:6)
- The time is near. (Revelation 1:3; 22:10)
IF THESE MEN WERE WRONG, THEY WERE FALSE PROPHETS, AND CHRISTIANITY FALLS.
